Eastern Grey Kangaroo in Eucalypt Forest, Coolah Tops National Park NSW Katherine Hamilton

An Eastern Grey Kangaroo stands alert beside a tall eucalypt in the cool mountain forests of Coolah Tops National Park. Dappled sunlight filters through the canopy, illuminating the kangaroo's warm brown coat against a backdrop of towering gum trees, native grasses and dense green understorey. The animal pauses quietly among the woodland, blending naturally into its surroundings while remaining watchful of its environment. A narrow walking track curves through the forest, inviting visitors into this peaceful bush setting. The contrast between the bright shafts of sunlight and the shaded forest floor enhances the texture of peeling bark, leaf litter and native vegetation, creating a classic Australian woodland scene.

Coolah Tops National Park sits on the elevated Liverpool Range west of the Hunter Valley in New South Wales. The park protects cool temperate eucalypt forests, fertile volcanic soils and diverse native wildlife that thrive in its higher rainfall and cooler climate. Numerous walking trails provide opportunities to encounter kangaroos, wallabies, native birds and other wildlife within one of the state's most scenic mountain national parks.
