Sunrise in Holloways Beach

Sunrise in Holloways Beach Naomi Porter

At sunrise, the calm waters of a tidal creek at Holloways Beach reflect a sky filled with soft cloud formations and warm golden light. The rising sun breaks through a gap on the horizon, casting orange and yellow tones across the water while creating mirror-like reflections on the still surface below. A sandbar curves gently towards the Coral Sea, guiding the eye through the scene, while coastal vegetation and mangroves frame the shoreline. The combination of tranquil water, changing light and expansive sky captures the peaceful atmosphere that often accompanies the start of a tropical North Queensland day.

Holloways Beach is located approximately 10 kilometres north-west of Cairns. It is a popular coastal community known for its relaxed lifestyle, beachfront walking tracks, fishing opportunities and easy access to the Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. The area forms part of the traditional Country of the Yirrganydji people, whose connection to the coastal environment extends back thousands of years. This image highlights the natural beauty, cultural significance and laid-back character that make Holloways Beach a cherished part of Tropical North Queensland.
