Darling Pea Richard Cox
The Smooth Darling Pea (Swainsona galegifolia) is a striking native Australian perennial known for its vibrant pea-shaped flowers and soft grey-green foliage. Naturally occurring across inland regions of Queensland and New South Wales, this hardy shrub produces clusters of blooms in shades ranging from white and pink to rich mauve and crimson throughout an extended flowering season.
Its delicate pinnate leaves and distinctive inflated seed pods add further visual appeal, making it a popular choice for native gardens and landscape plantings. Typically growing to around one metre in height and width, the Smooth Darling Pea is valued for both its beauty and resilience.
Please note: while highly attractive, this species is toxic to livestock and should be planted with care in grazing environments.
