Blackdown Tableland National Park Sunset Robert Frew
As the sun slips below the horizon, the western escarpment of Blackdown Tableland National Park glows with the final light of the day. From this vantage point approximately 800 metres above the Central Queensland Highlands, rugged sandstone cliffs frame an expansive view across forested valleys and distant ridgelines. The setting sun casts a warm golden band across the horizon, creating a striking contrast between the illuminated sky and the blue and purple shadowed wilderness below.
Native eucalypts and hardy grasses cling to the rocky edge of the plateau, thriving in the challenging conditions of this ancient landscape. The dramatic cliffs and deep valleys reveal millions of years of geological history, while the vast stretches of bushland highlight the remoteness and natural beauty of the region. As daylight fades and the landscape settles into evening, the scene captures the tranquillity, scale and timeless character of Blackdown Tableland, one of Queensland's most spectacular and lesser-known natural destinations.
