From campdrafts and rodeos to regional canine champions

(Originally posted 29SEP26)

Thanks to our equine focused photographers like Katie Robertson, Katie O’Brien and Richard Cox, we’ve seen some excellent images of rodeos and campdrafts from events across regional Australia.

But horses and cattle aren’t the only animals taking centre stage.

During my recent Big Lap, I stumbled across an Albany All Breeds Dog Club show that gave me a glimpse into the competitive canine world of dog handling, grooming and obstacle course prowess.

I started snapping straight away as there were so many things happening in front of me, dogs of all shapes and sizes zooming through the obstacle course, dogs being judged as they were paraded by proud owners in demonstrations of obedience and others being prepped for Best in Show for grooming.

With the Aussie dog world being so incredibly active there are potentially dozens of events taking place simultaneously each weekend.

What’s happening near you this weekend?
