Why Stone Fruit Season Matters — and Why It’s a Big Opportunity for Australian Creators
(Originally posted 17th Nov ’25)
A couple of weeks ago, one of our social community members shared a story that perfectly captures life in the Southwest of WA.
Anne-Marie recently bought a 1950s cosy jarrah weatherboard cottage with several well established stone fruit in the backyard.
You can’t get much more Aussie suburbia than that!
Including an old plum tree (pictured) that’s easily 15+ years old, producing huge dark-red fruit with golden flesh. (Santa Rosa, Gulf Beauty maybe?)
The Mediterranean climate of the Southwest helps stone fruit grow effortlessly and many households have thriving backyard peaches, plums, and nectarines simply because the climate is that good.
And as stone fruit season rolls across Australia, it highlights why AgriPix, a new agricultural and rural-life stock image library is coming to life.
Our farming season starts with low-chill varieties up north, moves down the eastern seaboard, and mirrors itself in Western Australia from Gingin to the Perth Hills to the Southwest.
Even the eastern Pilbara is beginning to grow early-season fruit through with irrigation and targeted low-chill varieties.
These regional differences matter, and they provide valuable insights and data not only for producers.
Image buyers, educators, publishers, food brands, and media outlets constantly need authentic, region-specific photos that show how and where our food is grown.
Yet high-quality Australian agricultural imagery is still surprisingly scarce.
That’s the gap AgriPix is here to fill.
We’re building a creator-friendly stock image library focused entirely on Australian agriculture, rural communities, and climate diversity.
And right now, we’re reaching out to photographers to contribute ahead of launch.
Whether it’s a backyard plum tree in Albany, a commercial orchard in Gingin, or an emerging Pilbara trial block, these stories have real commercial demand. And contributors will earn generous royalties every time their images are licensed.
Stone fruit season is just the beginning. There are at least 170 different types of primary production in Australia.
So if you want to help capture Australia’s agricultural story — and get paid for it — now is the time to reach out and contact us.
